Sticky Glue on the Leaves
Hey guys,
This plant is a one im fighting for for more than 3 years. Now its again in a struggle since the Chinese lemon that is on top of him is having sticky glue on his leaves (guessing its scale insects) and the sticky glue moves to the Philodendron and the leaves a getting yellow and fall off.
Should I just cut them and propogate in water or actually fight the scales using a Bayer Confidor S.C ?
Thank you!

Sticky residue on leaves (called honeydew) could also be from scale, but it might also be mealybugs or aphids. First thing is isolate the plant from your other plants. I'm not familiar with Bayer Confidor S.C., but if you're interested in a treatment that's less toxic to humans and pets, try a solution of neem oil, water, and a little squirt of soap (Castile or dish soap). Spray on the affected plant with special focus on the undersides of leaves where they like to hide. In addition to insecticide, scale can be scraped off with a finger nail. Aphids are easy to spot with the naked eye, so you can dip a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol and remove them that way as well. If you're noticing white cottony webs, then you're dealing with mealybugs.
Some photos would help if you have any you can share!
