Deliciosa vs Borsigiana

How do I tell what kind of monstera I have? #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #MonsteraMonday #TropicalPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #NewPlantMom
15ft to light, direct
9” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 months ago
@elk I have heard M. deliciosa has defined/multiple ripples at top of leaf petiole (where the stem part meets the leaf) of the most mature leaves while borsigiana has just one, which mine just has one so I assume its borsigiana (:
@elk The leaves are also bigger in deliciosa and with multiple rows of the fenestration, but that is always hard for me to tell without having each of the plants to compare!
That's definitely a monstera deliciosa. Looks like you have a borsigiana (Swiss cheese plant) in the lower left corner of the photo πŸ˜‰

Actually strike my last comment lol. Read this article, very informative! πŸ€—

@stephonicle I’m worried I’m never going to get the perforations in the leaves that I’m hoping for since the borsigiana doesn’t get them. 😰
There's no real difference between the two. Some say borsigiana is smaller [like in Albo], but there's no other noticeable difference
Ive always heard the only difference is that the leaf nodes are closer togethor in borsigiana and further apart in delicosa
@Elk hey, Monsteras get the holes/windows in the leaves with more light so you can inch it closer to a window or the grow light. Slowly of course.
Hey, I agree with @Araceae . There’s not a real difference unless you wanna get specific about leaf sizes. However, your plant still appears to be fairly young so I’d be patient with the fenestrations. The fenestrations will occur as the plant matures and when given optimal lighting - bright, bright indirect light. I recommend south facing window. She’ll get there, just be patient 🀍

If your plant is already in a 9” pot I’d say you have a pretty good chance of maybe getting larger leaves this summer if this guy stays on the right track!
@Elk

My gosh Kinsley.

What an absolutely-looking, gorgeous Monstera!
