What is the hard ball on the top of the soil of my string of hearts? Leaves on top are a bit yellow too - still getting used to watering regime etc, plus going to need to adapt for autumn and winter too... no signs of pests but still pretty new to all of this
Any helpful thoughts welcome? Thanks! πŸ’š
7ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Those are tubers and can be propagated!! I’ve had them too and had to look them up. Free plants, lol.
Found this for you.

String of hearts is easily propagated from cuttings, from tubers produced at the base of the leaves or by seed. The aerial tubers (β€œbeads”) can be planted to produce new vines. Just press the tuber – preferably still attached to the vine – into the soil of another pot. Keep the growing medium moist, but not wet, to encourage rooting. Once the tuber is rooted and growing in a few weeks or months, sever it from the original plant. Cuttings from the vine are best rooted with bottom heat.

Good luck πŸͺ¬
Btw, I used to just press mine lightly into the soil where they were as it made the plant look fuller as the new growth came through. That was before I almost killed it with neglect, so it is rather sad looking atm.

Depending on where in the world you are it might be better to wait until spring to start new plants off. I’m in the UK and I’m leaving all of my plants alone as much as possible because my house doesn’t get much light from October.

Other people may well have better advice tho!
Oh wow @MothGoblin this is so cool! And sounds like a sign she's doing ok??.... I've been a bit unsure! This is super helpful! Thank you. I'm in the uk too, Scotland and think I will do as you are! πŸͺ΄πŸ’š
My pleasure @BojeeMoon 😁 It certainly is a sign that she’s a happy plant, so keep doing what you’re doing.
I’m the opposite end of the island on the south coast, but I’d rather be in the Oban area. Love Scotland & it’s in my blood, so one day!
Always happy to help when I can Harvest πŸͺ¬
