My guy has a lot of browning leaves

#RexBegonia Here’s the history, you’ll probably need it to help me:

•wick and grow pot for the last 9 months. It’s been doing great.

•the pot got a crack and I had a hard time securing a new Wick and grow pot. It took about 3-4 weeks to get a new one, so the soil was drying out a little between waterings (in addition to personal life busy-ness).

•The seasons are turning and here in Utah the temps are swinging between a 30-40 degree range almost daily for the last 2-3 weeks.

•The corner of the bathroom has 2 large 4 foot windows with sheer curtains, perpendicular to each other making it a Northwest window

•It’s in a large bathroom over a garden tub, and in addition to daily showers I have a small humidifier running about 16 hours/day.

Today I am cleaning out this tub plant corner and I notice all these crispy leaves that just gently fell off and half the plant is gone!!

I do know begonias like steady water. If it’s been in a wick pot, and then didn’t have one would this have done that? Any tips?

Is it having new leaf growing? Look loke overwatered for me.
@RichlyProfilica yes. New leaves are growing.
@TheOddAsity If you have free time you can bring it out and exam the roots to see if there is any roots rot n try to remove or cut it
Since you added the humidifier, and it has a new wick and grow pot, maybe it doesn’t need as much water each time? Because maybe the soil isn’t drying out as quickly with the extra humidity? That’s only a guess and I could be totally wrong. 🤷🏼‍♀️
@EZLennyLance I don’t know. I have actually gone longer between waterings because I have been busy and you know all the things going on.
I bet it’s a combo of missing the wick plus less frequent waterings. I would water less but more often (if you can’t get a new pot), and also maybe move it Away from the window a bit if you aren’t able to water more frequently. 🌱☀️❤️
@RealSimpleMama I think I will do this. Thank you!!
@TheOddAsity Hello may I ask for your experience how is your begonia now?
@RichlyProfilica it is still getting crispy leaves. It just flowered too? I had a thought last night to check it for a root binder. I am going to look tomorrow.
