@FabRubbercup I have this happen frequently when I over water my alocasia. It is edema or oedema. Same thing just 2 different spellings. It’s probably from watering after the repot. Maybe it’s just adapting to its new home. Just keep an eye on how fast the soil dries out in comparison to prior to the repot. I have one allocation that has been mad at me ever since I repotted it. I don’t think that the soil is draining fast enough so I’m going to have to repot it again.
Your Alocasia Dragon Scale has a brown-red vine underneath, it's most likely a sign of overwatering which can lead to root rot, causing the roots to turn brown and potentially visible through drainage holes or at the base of the plant; this can also manifest as a reddish-brown discoloration on the stems or lower parts of the plant. Cut down on the amount of water and it should recover nicely.
@SelfmadeSalsify gotcha appreciate you πŸ’–πŸ’–
@SelfmadeSalsify brown red under veins is normal for alocasia. It's a characteristic of this. This is most definitely NOT a root and clearly part of the leaf. @FabRubbercup the spots is oedema. It's quite normal on new plants IME especially aroids like alocasia. After a week or two it should disappear if conditions are good
@Araceae oooh really ? So do you think it might be because it’s been really cold around here?
@FabRubbercup i don’t know if the cold affects it. But my aroids always get oedema for a week or two when i just got them
@Araceae well I’ve had Betty for almost a year now I think, but I did just repot her.
@FabRubbercup i think it's the repot. Just wait for it to go away, there's nothing much you can do
@Araceae okay !! I appreciate you. πŸ’–
