an easy way to tell is to get a small thermometer (like the kind intended for a reptile terrarium) and place it on top of the soil, don't bury it. Succulents typically like 70-80 degree weather, but they can tolerate a little outside of that range
I think it would do better if you give it a pot with drainage holes, preferably an unglazed one. When you water it, the pot will soak up some of the water and put it out into the air as oxygen. So there is no extra water in the soil to make the roots too wet.
