Mine has a few green leaves; they're the newer ones. I believe only the mature ones have the most variegation. However, if they've all lost variegation, I'd suspect a lighting issue.... what is your light situation?
I was thinking light, too. Butโ€ฆ For the first couple of years she was on a kitchen counter about five feet from south facing window, although the room is fairly filled with bright indirect light from other windows, east and south facing mostly. However, we typically close the blinds up in the summer months; it just gets too hot in the house otherwise and our electric bill skyrockets when it warms up as it is. A couple of months ago I moved Jane off the counter, but she was mostly green by then anyhow. I just moved her back to see if the variegation will come back. #ExperimentTime LOL
I think it may be a lighting issue. Mine used to be right by the window (UK, east facing) and the two newest leaves looked more white with green stripes. I've now moved it back about 1m away from the window and I'm waiting to see what the new leaves look like.
More light should hopefully bring the pinstripe back, but if not and you don't like the green leaves, (from what I've read up on variegated plants) you may need to chop it back to the last variegated leaf.
@KnitStar Ugh. No unnecessary chopping for me. LOL Iโ€™ll live with straight up green if the pinstripes donโ€™t come back.
Give it more light and the new leaves will have more variegation.
Iโ€™ve read that if youโ€™re not meeting its light requirements, it will not develop the stripes. You might be better off with a grow light if you donโ€™t have a way to put it close to a window
@FlashyCosmo True. I have solar screens on my windows which is great for the electric bill and keeping the house cooler๏ฟผ, but it makes the house pretty dark. My plans are all on grow lights only, and have been doing well. My Birkin has kept its stripes๏ฟผ.๏ฟผ Plus, the grow lights brighten up the room, lol.
@FlashyCosmo this is good to know! Iโ€™m going to try with my Birkin.
It usually due to a lack of light, if you put them closer to the window without direct sunlight or even put a grow light on it then it should perk right back up!!
