Okay, my boyfriend’s palm has a dying frond but a new one is coming in, is this normal? Also general tips for this type of plant would be appreciated.

This is totally normal it's just the process of the Majesty Palm. If you start seeing multiple brown fronds get it out to some fresh air and obviously giving it enough water!
