Overwatering can happen also when the soil is no good. From the avatar, your elephant bush is in regular soil. Regular soil keeps water for too long. If you want to save your plant you need to repot it in succulent cacti soil (terracota pot with drainage is the best). Elephant Bush needs to sit in dry soil.
