My rubber plant is bald..
I was away for less than a week for Thanksgiving, and I came back to this π. It was thriving before, and i usually wait to water it for a week or more anyway so i doubt that was the issue. The leaves that dropped were splotchy with a bit of yellow and orange, but werenβt mushy or anything. It looks like it can and will grow more leaves, and the newest leaf seems to be healthy so far, but I donβt want to kill it by accident. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi π @UberCoccoon22 oh thatβs a shame! It does look like a new leaf is forming so thatβs good π. I would guess something was going on with Hamilton before Thanksgiving for him to have dropped all those leaves so quickly. What was the soil like when you discovered him, too dry or maybe wet? Under or overwatered watering can cause leaf drop. Or perhaps there was a dramatic change in temperature? Did it get cold suddenly where you live?
@MariansOasis It did get pretty cold, yes, and the soil felt like a normal dry for the time but not bone dry. Iβm thinking it mightβve been the inconsistency with watering as well, because Iβve been pretty busy for the past few months and I donβt have a set watering schedule. Iβm a bit neglectful π
@UberCoccoon22 AI says a sudden drop in temperature, especially below 60 degrees can cause ficus to drop leaves. Maybe the combo of colder temperatures and inconsistent watering made him sad. Theyβre resilient plants though so he should bounce back π. The profile info says heβs 15 feet from light. Can you get him closer to a window?
@MariansOasis Yes, thank you for the help! I really appreciate it. π«Ά
