Caladium

last year (late summer) I got a baby caladium trio. I nourished them and they thrived (new leaves, crazy growth). Now they’ve been in winter sleep and my trusted source advised me to just leave them in their pots. Now as spring is emerging I’m wondering if I have to do anything? My trusted blog advises that I can just wait with watering until the plants push out new leaves, but how can it without any water? How do you get your caladium out of winter sleep? #Caladium #CaladiumCrew #help
Hi Sarah, welcome to Greg!

I haven't planted caladium but I have planted several other bulbs so here is the jist of what I understand.

-They are fine in their pots. The biggest concern there is freezing. If you are keeping them outside keep an eye on the temps, if you are growing them inside it's a non-issue.
-They stored all the water and energy they needed last year in the bulb. They will be using those reserves to grow new foliage, and then that foliage will allow it to have energy again, which is when it will need water again.
-Most bulbs wake up when they begin to get warmer temps and indirect light

I hope this clears things up!
