What is happening?

I just noticed this on my snake plant… anyone ever seen this before and know what I should do? Please help! #SnakePlant #SnakePlantSquad #snakeplantrecovery #helpneeded #TheThread #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #SpiderPlantBabies

@Saandruuhhh_ That is caused from over watering. Snake plants will start to show small bruises that feel soft like that. Do not water it until the soil is completely dry. Even if the app tells you that it's time. Always check your plants soil to make sure there is no moisture. You can use a wooden chopstick to stick down into the pot. If there is any soil stuck to the chopstick or if it's discolored from water wait a few days then check it again or use the snooze function by swiping left. The app will bring the plant back around in a few days for you to check it again. Snake plants have rhyzomes under the soil that store water. In nature it doesn't rain a lot where they grow but when it does rain...IT RAINS. Try to mimic that. Let it completely dry out then water it thoroughly. β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘ Those spots will not heal but they will dry out creating a scar on the leaf. Just let it dry out and it will be fine.
@princesspitstop thank you so much!! 🫢🏼πŸ₯Ή
@Saandruuhhh_ You're so welcome! πŸ€—
Mine is doing the same thing so thank you
@Saandruuhhh_ @ChiefJade19 Hi Katie πŸ‘‹ I'm so glad. It took me a minute to figure them out myself. I forgot to add that they love sunshine 🌞 the more the better but since it's starting to get cold outside put it inside less than 3 feet from a window. Preferably a South or a West facing window. 😁
@princesspitstop thank you for the chopstick tip!
@KineticLithop18 Absolutely! It's kind of like when you bake a cake you put a toothpick in the middle to check doneness and if batter "crumbs" are still on the toothpick when you pull it out it's not done yet. Same concept. You can also use wooden skewers. You can get a pack of them for around a dollar. Where you see discoloration on the stick will tell you how much of the pot is still wet. πŸ‘πŸ’š
@princesspitstop ok awesome I’ll continue to do it more often. I was placing them on the window sill but I wasn’t sure if they liked a lot of sun like that haha
@Saandruuhhh_ Yes ma'am they love it!! 😍
I used scissors βœ‚οΈ and carefully cut it out. The scissors were sterilized! It’s still happily growing! These things are like iron. Super hard to kill! Be mindful though that I am not a house plant guru by any semblance!
Too much water!! I got the same problem.
@HighDamsii17 Little known fact about snake plants. Once the tip breaks off that leaf stops growing. It doesn't die it just doesn't get any taller. That goes for nicks or cuts in leaves. What I do is when there is any damage to a leaf like that I will cut the leaf as close to the soil as possible. This will trigger the plant to produce more pups. Every time I have cut a leaf not long after I get new leaves. This is due to the plant no longer putting energy towards "dead" leaves or leaves that are no longer growing, instead putting it towards producing new leaves.
