Ms. Ruby, Ruby Ficus leaf I propped in H20 has great root...

I was so excited about the roots that have grown on a leaf propped in H20, I forgot to take a pic of them. They were growing up out of the previous " starter cup" ,so I am using a wider and deeper pot, with a Ninja cup on top, ala Mini Terrarium. ",Gemini" says i should open once a day for 30 minute, So she can breath. Is this Correct Info? #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #newgrowth #propagationstation #succulentlove #planttherapy
I would remove her from the terrarium. Her leaves will get fungal issues and mold otherwise. She doesn't need it. They are not picky. I have 2 of them that have transitioned just fine from water to soil with no added humidity. They are very easygoing plants.

You have come so far with her already I just don't want her to go downhill in there. 🩷
A mini terrarium is great in the very early stages, but now that it’s got healthy roots it’s time for some soil.

I’m a bit curious does the cutting include some stem or is it just a leaf that you managed to root?
No, its a leaf i accidentally knocked off of her, put it in h20 and then b4 i knew it, there were roots and i put in soil
@SuperbRaspfern, because compared to you (xp points) I guess my knowledge rate is "imbecile, so Off with the Ninja cup. I definitely will keep an update going. Thanks 😊!
@DaringColtsfoot Sounds great, your knowledge is not "imbecile". I am sure I just answered more questions that you 🩷
@DaringColtsfoot that’s an excellent happy accident! And now the sad news, your leaf will last a while but won’t ever grow into a new plant - the leaf lacks those buds. With good care my friends says your leaf could last years.
Gemini says otherwise. Is it Wrong
@DaringColtsfoot I’ll say it’s inaccurate, AI chatbots don’t always get everything correct. I even double checked my gardening propagation book, ficus require a piece of stem to grow a new plant.
Ive seen more than enough videos seeing it done so iam not sure where your info is coming from to say its not possible? Are they all Fake Videos?
See my comment above please πŸ™
@DaringColtsfoot I get why those videos look convincing. I’ve seen plenty of them too. They usually show a leaf with its petiole growing roots, but they never show it forming a stem. The stem is where the buds are that grow into new shoots. A leaf on its own can root, like yours has, but it won’t grow into a whole new tree. That’s how I’ve always seen it explained.
