@MockingJay they are gorgeous
Hey it’s me! The one that thought the roof was leaking when my dancers started doing this 🫣🤣🤦♀️🤷♀️ Love it @MajorRedpepers
@plantpower2009 Most plants do it but only at night or very early in the morning.
@MockingJay why do they do this? Mine is doing the same.
@WizardPalqui they are getting rid of excess water they absorb through the roots!
It is a process called guttation, and it increases when it is high humidity in the air, in high temperatures, and when the soil is wet.
At night the pores inside the leaf cells that transmit gas and moisture through the plant closes up. But, the roots continue to absorb moisture throughout the night. This causes stress and pressure on the roots, as they take up more moisture than they can comfortably hold. So the excess water is being let out through special pores on the leaves to relieve some of the pressure!
It may in some cases be a sign of overwatering. But then you will also after a time see yellowing leaves and leaf-drop. I can't imagine I'm overwatering my pothos, but it has such a strong root-system I understand the leaves may have a hard time keeping up with the pressure 😆
