How to root a beheaded succulent? (ID confirmation also a...

I got this (suspected) aeonium for Christmas and have already done some damage. While trying to ID it I knocked it off the bed and the whole top snapped off🥲 I know there’s still hope, I’m just not sure how to proceed.

I now have the top aside to callus, how long should that process take?

After it’s callused and placed in soil, do I need to water it or just wait until roots form?

Final question, is there a chance the stem will pop out new growth? Or would it need a remaining leaf to absorb light? #Aeonium #SucculentSquad
1ft to light, direct
2” pot with drainage

@thingsNstuff The callous should take between 2-3 days depending on the thickness of the stem. And you are right by waiting until roots form before watering, without roots the plant has no way to absorb water! May I give you an unsolicited tip? Always put Plants on a solid surface. I do all my plant work on the floor if anyone wants to topple over they won’t fall very far!
I think aeonium haworthii?

Just let it callous and stick it in the soil, water lightly and leave it alone. The stem could also grow something, yes.
@HeyLillie thank you I think you’re right!
@Ms.Persnickety thank you!! Yeahh usually I know better but I needed the window light for the photos, in all fairness it was fine until I forgot it was there😅 definitely gonna remember this moment for next time lol
