Raining thrips in heat wave
What is happening?! It’s over 100 in Los Angeles today and has been for the past few days and I noticed that it seems to be RAINING THRIPS. It’s disgusting. They’re literally sprinkled on ALL of my outdoor plants. What is happening?! I’m spraying them down with water to clear as many as I can and hitting them with insecticidal soap but I’m so annoyed! #PestControl #HappyPlants #heatwave #badbugs #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #askgreg #PlantClinic EDIT THERE ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THEM ALLLL OVER THE GROUND. IT’S DISGUSTING. I read that they thrive in dry heat but this is ridiculous.
Following!
That’s horrifying.
I think it’s time to throw away the house. 🤣 I’m so sorry you have to go through this. 🥲
If you had any excess rain with no beneficial nematodes poured outdoors, this happens. We had a wave of mosquitos and ended up spraying our entire property to get rid of them. Then it was the locusts. Then it was thrips. We had no rain for months and months but that heat seemed to pull up every nuisance pest that needed that climate. I went madd 🤪 spraying nematodes, releasing ladybugs, bringing in praying mantis pods just to get rid of the pests. It worked. Especially when the bats came and made their rounds to clean up the mess. Sorry you’re going through it but please keep us updated on the situation.
@FitSedum California would kill for excessive rain right now. Actually any rain at all. So this isn’t an issue for us. But sounds like you had a very biblical series of events. Bats are dope. Assuming no human is eating them and they don’t trigger any more cataclysmic global events.
@AlliesTerrarium omg! I love that you said what I’ve been thinking: It’s been biblical! And now we have rain at the homestead that won’t stop. I kept telling DH its the plagues of Egypt around here. Finally! Someone other than myself thinks it seems that way! 😬 #SendHelp
That is so absolutely gross! It makes my skin crawl just to think of it. I can’t imagine what it’s like for you! 🥺🥺🥺
@AlliesTerrarium I am really sorry to hear this. I hope you get some help with this problem to make it go away.
