Little red bugs?
I just got home and noticed on one of my new growths. I have these tiny red mites. I was wondering if anybody could identify them and tell me if this is either positive or negative. if negative, how do I get rid of them quickly and easily?

@EquableCornbind I have actually just used soapy water myself against spider mites, no pesticide (I had two-spotted, not red, but guess they are pretty much the same).
The soap works with drying out the bugs, but may also dry the leaves on the plant, and I guess it kind of depend on the plant. So reccomend spraying a small part of the plant first to see how it reacts. I tried a mix with water, soap and oil the first time and it didn't go well for my shrubsπ they did get new leaves after a while (as they are hardy plants) but all they had died. Had better luck with just water and soap, even if I did get some dry tips. My calatheas on the other hand tolerated both mixtures well.
I have used aprox 1 part soap to 9 parts water. (I have used dishwasher-soap or pine-sol(?)) And with those plants that were possible I have also rinsed them under the tap in the sink to get most of the mites off.
I would guess you may try the rosemary you have too!

@EquableCornbind they look like aphids to me. They are fairly easily gotten rid of by spraying them off with water or using Neem Oil or some other pesticide. Just be sure to get the bottoms of all the leaves well too. Hope this helps and Good Luck ππ«ΆπΌπ
@MockingJay is probably correct. I'm not great at identifying insects but the treatment is virtually the same
@MockingJay iβve also heard about rosemary keeping them away? is that true?
@EquableCornbind Rosemary oil is toxic to spider mites. But not shure how it works. Have not tried myself. Doubt it works just placing a rosemary plant next to this when you already have the mites, but might prevent them from coming back π Some pesticides contains rosemary oil, I guess they will work fine.
@MockingJay iβm only asking because im currently sick and having to stay in my house. i donβt have any pesticides but i do have rosemary thatβs been boiled in water for a different use. ill give it a try and see if it helps while im stuck inside!!
@MockingJay i do have peppermint castile soap.. i reread your previous comment and noticed you said soap and water. do you happen to know the safe ratios?
@MockingJay oh my gosh. thank you so much. ππ«ΆπΌ hopefully i can get rid of them. iβll owe the health of my plant to you π€π
@MockingJay thank you!! and of course ! i just tried the diluted soap. how frequent to you think i should spray it? iβve only noticed about 4-6 mites so far
@EquableCornbind You are lucky they are red on a green plant, easier to see π they lay lots of eggs too small to see. But you are doing good to spot them and get rid of them before they get manyπ
In the best conditions (hot and dry air) their lifecycle can be finished within 10-12 days π€ and you want to prevent them from laying new eggs π I think I did it approx 2 times a week in the beginning (first 2 weeks?). After I checked if I saw any and took a new round if there was.
Be sure to check your other plants now and then, even if I quaranteened my plants I got mites everywhere, I think they stuck to me around the house π΅
