Trying to identify this bush/tree/cacti : found in Tucson...

I think those are fruit pods of the big tall cactus which may be an Eve's Needle cactus. If you cut open one of the pods you got you can see if there are seeds inside. Be warned they may be quite small. Like sesame seed small.
@RJG ok, thanks- I’ll check. I do have an Eve’s Needle crest- but not nearly as large a a bush. Thank you.
@HyggeVibes yah i have a small one too but there are a couple in my neighborhood that are crazy
@RJG are you in the desert?
@RJG this is my Eve’s Needle Crest
@HyggeVibes Austin Texas so kinda
@RJG nice. I’ll do a little more research and post if I find what it is.
@RJG you’re brilliant!!! I googled that cacti, and in my search came across the word “cholla!” That’s one of the cacti room names at the bungalow where we stayed. So I googled it!!!! That’s what it is - a Cholla Cacti. It must be somehow related to ENC cacti. THANK YOU. 🌵
@RJG AKA: “Chain Fruit Cholla or Jumping Cholla”
“Most of the Sonoran Desert’s cacti are beautiful to behold, but one species can have a nasty side when encountered by people.

It’s the chain fruit cholla — also known as the jumping cholla for its habit of “jumping” from a parent plant or the ground onto the skin or clothing of a passerby.”
@HyggeVibes hey look at us. good work on the final ID!
