It's actually been amazing! I went on my first interview since being laid off in 2020 and landed the job. It's not my normal but it's something bringing in money and they offered me more than expected. So I'm VERY happy and grateful. @RJG How was your week?

My Chinese Evergreen looks kind of sad, but there’s new growth! Repotted my Pothos and added more soil, a new leaf unfolds :)

Lots of new growth on all these guys! My aglaonema Mary Ann is a new fave with a bunch of leaves coming. Syngonium pushing out a few, including one that looks like an inchworm! 🐛 So cute. And the philo shangri la is doing her thing dazzling us. Also, baby jalapeños!

Happy #FreshLeafFriday !!! Today all of pathos are popping new leafs left and right! Pictured are my two golden’s and my marble queen! Then my crispy wave fern is rolling out two new leaves as well. Finally, my mini monstara is becoming so big and pictured is hee newest leaf making an appearance 🤍

So many! But the ones I’m most excited is the new flower bud in my begonia silver limbo and the unexpected flowers on my quince prop, and of course, the monthly FLF new leaf, and my birds nest fern is doing great.

This is a pretty exciting fresh leaf Friday for me! 
Hemingway lost his top two leaves (they just went floppy and noting I did helped so I chopped his top off and then his bottom three leaves dried up and fell off. So within a month I lost 5 out of 8 leaves. Then I noticed this week that he has pushed out 2 new leaves! 
I think he may have finally decided that the 40th Street Bungalow is a great place to be! 
Plus I am finally getting responses from DHHS and the nursing facility where we are looking to place my mom in memory care, so things are finally moving forward in getting her the care she needs!

I’ve been finding a lot of comfort buying sad looking plants at my local grocery outlet , repotting them, and watching them come back to life. I’m hoping a lot of them will make good gifts for my students once healthy again.

@sarahsalith yeah I’ve gone a little crazy and I think I have 6 different crowns of thorns with different color flowers.  They usually are very tough plants and hard to kill so I think it was probably something that was just an issue with those two. I would try again. I don’t think you’ll have the same problem. I haven’t had any die even when I forget about watering them. So don’t give up

I planted cucumbers from seeds in October last year, (first pic) and I’m finally seeing some real progress. I maybe eating home grown cucumbers in the next few weeks 🤗.
I moved Wanda outside a few weeks ago and she’s loving life. Her leaves make me want watermelon  every time I see her.                
Freddie #FiddleLeafFig #FicusGang is showing off 2 new leaves in a week. I think about accidentally breaking the top off everyday. Lol.
Dillon #MoneyTree #MoneyPlant  is hogging the window he’s growing so much. I tried to remove some of the sunburn from the leaves and made it even worse. I have holes in the leaves now 🫣. Wish I left it alone, the white spots didn’t actually look that bad. Hope isn’t not too noticeable in the picture.  I forgot all about Bentley monstera Peru. His branches are really long, he is definitely ready to climb. Can you recommend something to help?

@LatiTish84 thank you. I actually have a small trellis in the pot now. The stems are wrapped around it so much you can hardly see it. I haven’t seen and skinny moss poles small enough for the pot. I will need to go on a hunt this weekend for something tall and small enough to accommodate the pot 🤗.

@babyfiretiger13 welcome to the bonsai club! Ficus Ginseng’s are pretty low maintenance-biggest thing is to avoid watering from the top, as I find the trunk gets soft if it’s kept moist-instead water from the bottom and LET IT DRAIN- and I second on @RJG ‘s soil rec-orchid bark and perlite I have found to be good add-ins

For the soil is a mix of soil, orchid bark and perlite 1/3 of each okay? Or what do you suggest.

To answer your questions: yes that 1:1:1 mixture of perlite, bark, and potting soil works for me; yes let bottom water, especially with the gap in the trunk, I imagine it wouldn’t take much for fungi to grow in there, with a pot that size, it really shouldn’t need more than 30 min or so, and yes drain after!

Happy FLF!! 1. My silver sword has put out a tiny new leaf! It’s a little bent and messed up so I think it must have gotten stuck or something. 🥲 2. Can someone please tell me what this is on my #VenusFlyTrap!? It’s driving me nuts. 😂 3. My #PrayerPlant is putting out 3 at once!! Look at him go. 😊 also featuring plant tags I found at the dollar store. 4. New leaf on Gosling! (Propagated from my big-ish marble queen, Goose) and finally, 5. THE LEAVES ARE HERE!!  🥳 small as they are this is very thrilling! A little oddly shaped and I don’t know where the next ones will come from, but they’re here!
