I need help dealing with this drama queen #fiddleleaffig

This plant was a gift and I'm seriously about to give it up 🫠. The plant was healthy for a while, but after I went for a long trip, it simply lost all of its leaves and now it's a naked little thing. I know #fiddleleaffig are dramatic, I'm doing my best not to move it. The vase has drain holes, it's about 3 meters from a Northeast window. I checked the roots and they're healthy, no root routing, but I think the soil is retaining too much water. What is your usual care routine with this plant? What type of soil mix do you use? I'd like to have all the possible tips to try to save it. Thanks πŸ’š

Increase your light by ALOT! They will reward you with giant green leaves. For soil, I use a combo of cactus soil, indoor potting soil, coco coir, perlite, and worm castings. I only water when it’s 75% dry. They do like humidity. Good luck πŸ’šπŸŒ±
I feel like that pot might be a little bit big for the little guy too.. could cause watering issues. They really don't like to be messed with or any changes in its routine or atmosphere. They throw fits with their leaves about everything lol
@Azplantchic @PlantBeach Both people above gave you great info!

I wait for mine to be dry before I water mine, at least close to it.

Your curtains were probably closed during your trip. And it's mad at you for that. I agree with Nikki on the soil they don't like to stay wet. And chonky soil is a must even if you just buy a bag of perlite and mix what you have already into a 50/50 mix. That will help tremendously.

So to sum it up:

Water only when nearly dry.
Chonky soil
12 hours of light

Your window is fine as long as curtains are open. 3 meters away from a Northeast windows will not be enough light unfortunately. If you want it in that room move it right in the window.

Your problem will be the temp fluctuation then, since you live where it's cold so it may still drop its leaves.

Ideal location would be interior wall ( more stable temp there) under a grow light.

That will allow you to control the environment. Which is what they like since they are tropical plants. She is NOT going to like your cold weather!

I have a grow light directly over mine set on a timer and it grows beautifully under there. The timer is set for 12 hours on.
