I take the bare part of the vine and sort of “bend” it slightly and stick it in the soil. A bobbie pin will keep the vine down into the soil if it keeps popping back up. In just a short while the part of the vine in the soil will sprout roots. Or you can choose to trim it off and either stick the bare end in the soil directly or keep it in a jar in water and wait till the roots shoot out. I’ve done both and they both work fine.
