Gifted echeveria smells!

My daughter received this plant as a gift after a recital last week. It has some broken leaves. I’m not sure if that’s why, but it stinks! The smell is filling our house. Is that normal for this plant? Will the smell go away after it heals a bit?

You might have a serious case of root rot! I would immediately take the plant, gently clean its roots with lukewarm water (and maybe a tsp of 70% alcohol), and repot with a medium of potting mix and perlite for excellent drainage.

Make sure to take some sterilized scissors and chop off any black, mushy roots! πŸͺ΄πŸ€—

Also, personally I would remove the leaves that are damaged or in half as they will not grow back. I would want my plant to redirect its energy in creating new growth! πŸ€—πŸͺ΄

Good luck and happy growing! πŸ’•

@TrasuBabli love the name! Tell her I said I love it πŸ€£πŸ’•
The plant name killed me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Btw This is not pearl Echeveria! This is Pulidonis
@vvvelo I used what Greg identified it as! Let me check that out… btw the roots looked fine! Not root rot.
@TrasuBabli Gregg has an issue with echeverias. I noticed this long time ago. Almost every green Echeveria Greg identifies as pearl or lipstick Echeveria. Even when they are not.
