Dirt, Sand, Lava Rocks? Oh my!

I would love to know from the professional succulent squad… do you prefer mineral over organic substrate for your succulent plants? Or a combination??? #SucculentSquad #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #SucculentLove

The perfect substrate mix for succulent plants should focus on excellent drainage, minimal moisture retention, and aeration for the roots. A typical mix includes three key components: a gritty, inorganic material like coarse sand or perlite, organic material like cactus soil or potting mix, and a porous element like pumice or small lava rocks. A common ratio is 2 parts coarse sand or perlite, 1 part cactus soil or potting mix, and 1 part pumice or lava rocks. This combination ensures the mix dries quickly, preventing root rot and maintaining an optimal environment for succulents.
FYI most of mine are in succulent soil that’s made up of peat… which I heard is not good πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
