How do I cut these off????
I always wondered why this plant never did very well since I’ve brought it home. Just couldn’t get the watering or the light right I thought. Then the other day I noticed this black plastic sticking up out of the soil. I can’t believe I never noticed this before! Hoping to cut them off and repot in a chunky soil mix in a clay pot. Any tips? And there’s some sort of little round white type eggs in the soil that look like about the size of small per light, but they have liquid inside. Anybody know what those are??? So gross. #HappyPlants #Aglaonema #BigBoxStoreFind #BigBoxStoreProblems #PestControl #deathplugs #PlantAddict #ChineseEvergreen #NEPAGregGang

Looks like the roots persevered nonetheless! Plants are nifty like that. It’ll be neat to see how it does once the roots are even more free! A course, draining type soil should work out best! Make sure to choose the appropriate size pot! Usually for bigger plants about 2-4 inches bigger than the root balls. As for those little white balls, they’re little fertilizer balls that come in soil usually that biodegrade after a while to let out their fertilizer. Kind of like a timed release to make sure the soil keeps giving off the nutrients. Good luck!
@nellz4estfairyz WOW ROOTS ROOTS ROOTS!!! Eeek!!! I’d just go ham with the scissors 🤣 congratulations on your new plant babies!! They are so so pretty! Goals for sure, Aglaonema is a wishlist plant! Yours are STUNNING NELLZ🤩😮💨🥹
@Kingdoubletap1 omg, I thought it was eggs for a poisonous insect/reptile!!! Think baby Godzilla spider mites….. 😂
@Prentyce I got those cages off! And repotted in a nice terra cotta pot.
@Prentyce @Kingdoubletap1 you can see once I washed off the soil that these were both rooted cuttings! That gives me some hope that I could propagate aglaonema. I have yet to to try.
HOLY MOLY THATS PERFECTION!!! Those ROOTS!!🤩🥹🙈 @nellz4estfairyz you HAVE AN EYE!!!!! My goodness!! I’m so tuned for the propagation🤩☺️ @JenniferNoel do you have any Algaonema propagation experience by chance bestie?? 🤩🥹🤪🥳 BEST OF LUCK NELLZ!!! This is AWESOME!! :D
@nellz4estfairyz & @Prentyce - So that little black plastic cup is just like this mesh! I DESPISE!! Luckily you caught it when you did because they harm the roots and stunt the growth of the plant!
Nurseries and big box stores tend to do this because most of their plants are cuttings so it helps the plant grow faster in a shorter period of time, but in the long run it’s BAD!!!!! It’s harder on the grower, especially if it’s not caught in time!! CUT IT OFF AND THROW IT AWAY!! I SERIOUSLY DESPISE THEM!!!! 🤪
Those little ball’s are fertilizers and they come in several different colors! Blue, white, and Costa Farms does it with all of their plants and they are teal!! They disintegrate over time! So nooo stress!
Propagation for Aglaonema is pretty easy! Just find a healthy stem, chop it off close to the soil, and stick it in some water! Then sit back and wait/watch 🥰🥰

@nellz4estfairyz - Now you will see your PRETTY Aglaonema do some AHHHHMAZING things!!
CONGRATULATIONS on finding the problem 👍🏼 and those roots look GREAT 😍
My Pink Splash is BLOOMING 🥰

@JenniferNoel WOOOA!!!!! The flower🤩🥹🙈 JENNIFERRRRR!! My goodness girl!! That is freaking incredible!! :)
@Prentyce I have literally never tried to propagate aglaonema. And I don’t have any that I’m ready to chop either. Lol but eventually I will HAVE to try it!
@JenniferNoel beautiful pink splash and beautiful roots! This aglaonema looks better already, so I’m hoping things will start looking up. It has been so unhappy since I purchased it!
@JenniferNoel do you cut the flower off and when is the best time to do that for leaf growth if you happen to know. I let two of mine flower so far this spring, but I think it’s time for me to get serious and chop them off. Especially my red army, it needs more leaves not flowers! lol
@BabeVila see roots above. ⬆️ it’s crazy, but I’ve still never tried to propagate any of my Aglaonema. I guess they just don’t usually grow in such a way that inspires me to propagate them as much as other plants like Pothos do.
