Something it wrong, my plant is losing all of its leaves ...

#Peperomia
1ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 4 weeks ago
You might want to check for root rot it could be being watered too often
The variations are beautiful. It seems like to much water. That's how mines looked.
@user63a506b5 if there is root rot, how do I fix that?
Firsrly, i dont think u have root rot but u can insert a few tampons into soil & if they get soaked, then let me know & i will give u step-by-step directions as its quite involved & unless its determined idw to go over all that if not necessary it does seem as tho u need more soil atop the container & id use peat if ur concerned about rhe roots, mix w/perlite & top off ur plabter for now, where r u losing rhe leaves from on ur plant? It theyre from the bottom, thats a normal stage of growth (just like we lose 50-100 hairs/day, ugh) . If thats not the case, it may be either over or under watering abd i would bet its over watering. Feel rhe texture of the leaves that r falling. If they have a mushy feel, then its over watering. If theyre crispy then its under watering. From the pics u sent, ur plant looks healthy & the leaves i see look very nice and green and healthy so it may just be a type of molting. Make sure u have the right soil, right amount AND type of sunlight! Dont take them inside and outside at whim. They need to be acclimated to either setring for 1-2 hrs for a few days and increase, then reverse order bringing them back in. Im not saying any of things r the issue or that u r doing aby of these things; im just trying to cover all the possibilities abd ur best bet is to figure it out by process of elimination. I would say if they were crinkled then u may need to give them some humidity from plabt humidifier but like i said, from what i see, ur plants leaves look healthy and a nice color. I also doubt it is due to pests for that same reason but u could also check both the top and bottom of leaves w/lightes magnifying glass to see if anyrhing hinky is goong on. I also hope u r aware and making sure that aby new plant u bring into ur home is quarantined foe at leasr 4 weeks as u keep in mond ur also bringing innanyrhing ur new plant was exposed to at the nursery or store from which u got it, even if it was gifted. Again, i think ur plant looks good to me! U cant fret anytime u lose a leaf because if u never lost a leaf, every plant would be as big as ur room!!! Also, one last thing to check. Make sure u dont have ur plant sitting near an a/c or hearong vent wherr the cold or hot air woupd blow on it. They need steady and stable air flow, if anyrhing is needed, it would be from a cool mist plant humidifier! (i have 5 interspersed thruout my 38 plants) some need it, some dont so the ones that need it get it and if u do add humidity make certain its cool mist as warm air breeds germs (thats y operating rooms r so cold). Also, ifbu add a humidifier, keep in mind ur watering schedule may slow down as the soil will stay moister longer, esp if u have peat or orchid chips, lava rocks, etc. In ur soil (which u should!) im recommending Very Plant Mollys Aroid soiless soil for tropical plants. Its awesome abd cheaper than purchasing all thr substrates u would need to mix urself, plus u dont HAVE to do the mixing and measuring! They also have a formula for succulents and orchids! I think the Aroid is the best for most planrsband the most common. Unless u have a houseful of jades, aloe, cacti & other β€œcamel-likeβ€œ plants that store water, oh and make sure ur using FILTERED water; not distilled, which has nothing in it, not even rhe N+ ur plants need like we need oxygen, nor wouod inuse tap, in a pinch u can but allow it tobstandnat least 15 min tonallow the Cl- from the water treatment system to dissipate; also add liquid vitamins. I recommend SuperThrive (Amazon $12 but u only use 1/4t/gal of water) so trust mebit lasts!!! I only buy it about every 8 months and still dont need to open right away! Now, my last bit of unsolicited advice is get a Brita container (they have filters that turn red when need replaced, add ur 1/4t SuperThrive & transfer as needed to ur water can (get one with long curved spout so u can get into those Calatheas & towards center of growth) i used to use pyrex measuring cup but no matter how careful u r, u will depress ur soil since the spout allors too much warer ar once. I bought a FISKER brand (if u sew, u know rhe brand, they make greatnleft-handed scissors as well!) ir has a spout rhat screws onto the bottom, w/measuring marks AND u need not remove the top/lid to fill it!! And yes, u guessed it Amazon!! I cant remember the price but trust me it was reasonable or i wouldnt have it. Trust me, u can buy these gorgeous water cans for over $30 that could be confused w/ur silcer tea set but the idea is to water ur plants efficiently, not to impress them! And unless u have money to throw away, dont be tempted!! (buy more plants!!!) i think we have covered just about everything and all these tips go for all plants w/only exceptions for types that require certain type of sunlight, humidity and the like! Oops i forgot one last (i promise) tip that i, of cpurse learned the hard way! Along w/quarantining ur new plants, should u bring any plant into ur home w/a bloom, flower or blossom (in my xase it was a Peace Lily) i was sooo excited that i had 3 blooms right off the bat, i noticed pinholes in top-most bloom and had myself a nice infestation of thrips!!! It ended up affecting 3 plants and took 6-wks of treatmebt to rid myself of these horrible creatures. Just as we do, they go right for the sugar, or nectar first. The pest itself would be found on the underside of the leaf/leaves and they r very small and burrow into the smallest spots as well as ur soil soooo if u r thripled to come home w/a plant that has a bloom of ANY kind, cut that sucker off and save urself 6 weeks of pure hell!!!! U will get blooms soon enough, ur sanity takes a bit longer! Okay now im done and i think make ur checklist and always u find an issue by process of elimination unless or until u have suffered thru something thats obvious from the get and i dont eant that for u (lighted magnifying glass! Guess where u cwn get one about $9-$11?) yepper, Amazon. U may wanna pick up a welcome mat that says, β€œyesAmazon driver, this house againβ€œ. They seriously make these!!! So good luck, biy plants, learn and love them and they will love u back!!! 🫢πŸͺ΄πŸŒΏ send pics and keep in touch cause i wanna hear about all ur successes and beautiful plants!!!!
@ModernHope49 you can use a 1:5 ratio of peroxide and water and let it soak for a couple minutes after cleaning away all the dead roots and then just repot it and dont water it for a little while it should start to develop more roots and then the leaves should start growing back you could also go ahead and cut it back some to make the plant focus more on roots but that’s totally on what you think would be best for your plant!
@ModernHope49 sorry for my long-winded response i just wabted to cover all the bases for u!.. @BuffXaperspurge
@BuffCaperspurge just popping in to say I thoroughly enjoyed all the tips you gave here. Notes were taken!
