What are signs of overwatering?

Mushy, yellow, plump leaves that are falling apart and are transparent. They may also appear black or brown. They plant will look sad overall and dull or generally off color. For a haworthia like that, the leaves will probably be brown and black at the base and rot away.

If you’re worried, take the plant out of the pot and inspect the roots for a good idea of the health. If the roots are black and pulling off super easily, it’s rotted. Sometimes they may look black from the dirt, but if you give them a gentle tug and they don’t pull off like melted strings then the roots are probably okay. I would clean them off for a good look at the coloring though.

To avoid overwatering your succulent, they shouldn’t be watered frequently. Succulents should be water once or twice a month (depending on the size and watering method)! If they’re in a pot with drainage holes and proper succulent soil, they have a better chance of not overwatering.
