Best guess is overwatering and/or poor air circulation. How often are you watering, how long have you had it, and what kind of light is it getting?
Hi there! Oh no I am so sorry you are having trouble with your plant! There are several potential causes for this issue, and I'll try to provide you with some insights to help you identify and address the problem.
Firstly, ensure a well-draining soil, allowing the top inch to dry before watering, and confirming the presence of drainage holes.
Check the soil pH, aiming for a slightly acidic to neutral range, and ensure your protea receives ample sunlight (6-8 hours per day) Monitor temperature extremes, avoid over-fertilizing, and inspect for pests or diseases. Prune affected leaves, maintain good air circulation.
How much water would you say you are providing it and is the browning crispy and dry or is it more β€œwet”? Also how are you watering it? Bottom watering or pouring water from the top?
@GaryPoopins I feel like there is enough airflow? But maybe not? I have most of my plants hanging out in my dance studio in the basement (it’s ground level and a pretty big area/gets lots of light). I’ve been watering every 9 days with .8 cup of water (based on some suggestions I saw when I googled instructions). I placed the pot in front a ft away from a south facing window.
@KatVinogradova I’ve been watering .8 cup every 9 days according to instructions I found on Google and it’s sitting 1 ft. Away from a south facing window. I think there’s enough airflow but I may be wrong. I’m gonna prune the leaves and try some neem oil for pests.
