5” pot with drainage
Last watered 4 months ago
@ I watered mine every four days this way it doesn’t get dried out and I make sure to keep it under the road light
I have one just like this. It was dropping crumbling leaves like crazy..I finally took the time to trim off the dried out areas...now it looks sooooooo much better!! Ferns need occasional TLC!
Try keeping it in your bathroom where you shower. Ferns like warmth and humidity. I spritz mine with water multiple times a day during the summer and maybe once or twice a day in the winter months. They also like bright indirect sunlight.
@pelssy I’m just here to complain about growing ferns indoors! πŸ˜‚ they seem to do wonderful outside in the humid summer weather that we have in Pennsylvania, but in the dry heat of my home for the winter months they just dry out and become miserable. 😩
@pelssy
Hi!
I think that you, yourself have solved the problem!
They need to be near humidifiers... they're dried out.
I used to spritz mine twice a day. He wouldn't grow at all and looked sickly. When I stopped spritzing and changed to bottom watering, it was like night and day. The soil on top was continuously wet from all that spritzing and that's not a good thing.
No wonder he previously a targeted host to fungus gnats!
Oops 😬! Sorry for the diversion. A good, clean humidifier should do the trick. Only fill it with distilled water. 55 to 60 percent humidity and they should perk back up.
That's such a gorgeous fern...Simply beautiful πŸ˜πŸ€—
@nellz4estfairyz right!!! i’m in canada and it’s like -50 right now so it is obviously in the house and it hates the indoors!!!
@CutePolypremum i was thinking bottom water too might be better and humidifier!
@pelssy
Yup πŸ‘
I did mention that.... definitely bottom water and a good humidifier ! 😍
@pelssy omg πŸ˜† 😳-50 I hope that was a joke! It’s going to be about -10 here at night this week, -20 with the wind chill. I have one fern in a self watering pot, one fern in rehab in a giant cheese ball container πŸ«™, and two others thatbi@ just praying will grow! lol πŸ˜‚
@pelssy
Yikes 😳😬
I just read your post again. -50? Me thinks that is too much! Lol πŸ˜‚
Anyway...I just read that ferns like to be left alone and basically hate being in a high traffic area, especially where humans and/or pets can brush by them...
Hoping this helps!
