Sorry to hear about your plant problems, but you can to the right app!!
Ferns need bright, indirect light. It might need more light than a North window will give.
They also don't like to dry out EVER.
And, the doozy, is the REQUIRE high humidity or they'll turn crunchy. How the humidity up there? Here in the south, we can get to 70% easily indoors and 100% outside with no rain. It's a sticky situation for humans, but the plants love it! 😆
