Cactus propagation?

**Reposted to include photos**

This cutting is from a Rhipsalis paradoxia cactus (wasn't an option on Greg), not an Easter cactus.

I'm not sure if I'm propagating it correctly. It looks like there's a root growing in the water, but there's also one growing in the middle of the plant near the top (see photos). I've never propagated a cactus or any species that roots this way.

Should I be propagating it in soil instead?

*I realize I butchered it a bit with the wire, lesson learned lol

Thanks for the re-post with photos! I probably would give it a touch more water just so the bottom 1/2 inch is covered but I can see you already have roots growing - that’s great! Give it time and they will grow longer and fuller and then you can repot into your soil mix 🌡🌡🌡
@WelsomeRhodotus this is super helpful, thank you! In that case do you think the lil white thing at the top is new foliage or flower growth? It looks like the peduncles on my hoya, and its getting longer every day πŸ‘€
@CopiousDracena yes most likely because the leaves form on the top of the previous leaf :) soooo excited to see this baby grow!! 🀩🀩
@WelsomeRhodotus cactus update: the little white thing near the top kept growing and I concluded that it is indeed a root. The bottom part that was in the water started rotting a little so I chopped it and potted it in soil. πŸ‘€πŸŒ΅ πŸ‘€
@CopiousDracena good move! I’m so looking forward to seeing this baby grow grow grow!
yooooo so... there are some teeny tiny roots! There are the ones I circled in green, and then also one that I drew over in white (pretty much impossible to see in a photo). You think I should just leave it be and see what happens?!

Btw, thanks again for all of your help, with both this and the LECA! :)
