Brown spots left after powdery mildew, maybe?
I got this variegated jade plant a few weeks ago, and had it in isolation for the first two weeks, before I noticed some white fuzz on top of some brown spotted discoloration.
I recently had other plants with powdery mildew and believed it to be the same so I sprayed it with a neem oil solution on 5/23/24 (this was also when I first watered it, it was in damp soil when I brought it home)
Wanted to see if the brown spots are a normal after effect for powdery mildew? Or if this means itβs something else entirely?
The first photo from when I bought it and the next 2 photos are 3days post-neem oil where itβs just brown and no white fuzz, I forgot to snap a βbeforeβ treatment photo.
(The one more solid brown spot was there when I bought it and I just thought it was from damage, so idk if that was actually an indication of something else..?)
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice/knowledge! #HappyPlants #Powdery_Mildew_or_Other_Diseases #powderymildew #JadePlant #planthelp #SucculentLove

Hi Miranda!
This is a mystery. My first guess would be that it's from the Neem Oil. It is common to overdo it and burn the plant, or that if it hasn't dried and the plant sees direct sun it can burn.
The other possibility is that it's scaring. Sometimes when we get a plant that's been bumped or something we don't see any issue until a scar appears, especially on succulents with firmer leaves.
If it's something more serious it'll spread, so keep and eye and if you see more spots or those grow we can look at some other possibilities.

@PlantMompy okay the neem oil makes sense, I was nervous about the mildew and was probably too heavy handed π
. i donβt believe it saw direct sun while wet, but Iβll keep an eye on it to see if it spreads! Thank you for the input!!! if it hasnβt spread by Thursday (the next neem dose day) I can spray it again (but less) and keep it inside/out of sunlight while wet π my bet is the one darker spot is a scar from something, and if it scars from the neem/mildew/burn then thatβs on me π
@PlantMompy Hi Ashley! here are the updated photos! As far as I can tell the spots themselves have not grown, however any that were on/near a leaf edge have caused some shriveling, and one baby leaf fell off when I lifted the pot to check it yesterday π
the good news is I canβt see any new white fuzz/mildew? So I think I can afford a less aggressive treatment than neem (or at least a more dilute solution and less heavy spray) this time. I tried to take the same angle photos for easy comparison and the little leaf is a good example of the shriveled part (the dust is just pollen lol)
