Just impulse-bought this sarian #alocasia at a grocery store! πŸ˜…
What kind of soil is best for these guys? I have regular potting soil and succulent soil (mostly peat). Would a combo of those work fine? #alocasiaaddicts
I think an airy soil mix with perlite and some orchid bark. I mix about equal parts and seems to work fine for alocasia and other air-loving plants. Potting and succulent soil would in my opinion be a bit to dense and slow to wick away excess moisture. 😊
Thanks! 😊
I love these guys, My alocasia has grown two pups and a new leafs in a month or two of having it. They are super easy to take care of, just put them in an airy soil like @GreenGoblin said, make sure they are in a smaller pot always, (I'd repot your current one though if it is root bound too badly; it probably is,) only repot 2 inches greater than your current one and water once the soil is completely dry!
I also think it's pretty cool that you're one of the only people I've seen with a Sarian on this app!
@rynroxx that's awesome, I live for new leaf growth!!! 🀩🌱
Thanks so much for all the info, that's super helpful to know!
Haha thanks, I didn't realize that! I saw it at the store and it looked so beautiful I had to have it! πŸ˜‚πŸŒΏ
