So, I went to a wedding that would make the entire Greg app envious this Halloween season. So, the bride, a dear friend of mine, asked me to make her a gown with very specific plants represented in the lace. As it turns out, she grew her table centerpieces (tradescantia zebrina, anthurium, rooted in sphagnum and amethyst), her and her brides party's bouquets (the above mentioned plants +string of hearts vines, satin pothos, in bouquet shaped planters) and her headpiece/veil (string of hearts vines)! So if course, I made satin pothos and string of hearts inspired lace. But when I got there, oh my word! The table settings included several varieties of mystery seeds to plant, each variety with a name like "love wins", "love is love" etc. The ceremony was beautiful, fully outdoors, under beautiful trees, with live music. I was gifted a centerpiece, and one of the bride's party bouquets (the bridesmaid was worried she'd kill it), and so I wanted to show off my friend's wondrous gardening skills, and how she kept all of these plants alive for the ceremony!
The centerpiece is intuitive, gorgeous 3d printed planters with sphagnum to hold it all safely.
The bouquets (which is currently hanging here until I have a better place for it) were grown in these spherical planters, that were attached to crystal handles.
And the veil still baffles me, because the vines had to be separated from their roots, yet decided to grow both flowers and seed pods the day of the wedding. Genuinely incredible, seriously a wedding fit for a faerie! I feel so inspired by it! And now I have a lot of plants to name! #satinpothos #stringofhearts #tradescantia #anthurium #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy
That sounds amazing!! I would be in heaven just attending as a guest. Congrats to the couple and I hope their union flourishes like her beautiful arrangements.
@TRose the couple were practically made for each other! They both love gardening, work with animals, and are adorable together! I forgot to mention, his suit was made of fabric with pothos leaves in the brocade, and he and his groomsmen's boutineers were also hand grown by them. I swear, if they were on this app, they'd be superstars with their floor to ceiling garden and their beautiful relationship.
Wow! That is so creative and unique. I bet it was breathtaking! ๐Ÿ’š
@PersephoneAlata that sounds amazing. Makes me want to have a party just so I can decorate with plants ๐Ÿ˜‚ I told my friend about this wedding and she is in agreement. Get all our plant loving friends together and everyone wear their fav plant or flowers. ๐Ÿ’
