I brought home this beauty in Dec. and believe the first spot had too bright/ direct light because a leaf dropped and another tip burnt. I moved it and have since had a new leaf but still feel like she could be happier? I just got this greg and the app says it should be closer to a window (it’s now 6 ft from an east facing window). Would this grow light help or be too much? This is the dimmest setting, if anyone has tips before I start using it I would hate to backtrack any progress I’ve made so far! #Philodendron #PrinceofOrange
7ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 weeks ago
I’ve made mine strickly a house plant πŸͺ΄ and put it in indirect light. Doing quite well so far 😊πŸͺ΄
@SunnySunshine Thank you for the reply! Do you think this light is too direct? I’m not the most experienced with house plants
I have 3 POO in an east window at the edge, or right against it and they seem to love it. With the grow light it’s just going to depend on the PAR output and distance but I’ve experienced my red Congo getting burnt from being too close to the grow light at what looks to be similar distance but it was a pretty powerful light. I do move the plants in my east window when I water them and I rotate them but I’ve had no issues. I do also have a humidifier set at 45% near it.
I can’t really tell from the pic but I also use a really chunky well draining soil with orchid bark in it. It takes a good 10 days to dry it out before I water again
@Jessejohn Thank you for the reply! The grow light at the dimmest setting doesn’t seem too harsh but when the soil got a bit dry it toppled over and took the plant with it because I don’t think the pot was deep enough for the stake to not wobble at that height… unfortunate design - I have had no grow light and it isn’t withering but no new leaves either. It did get a leaf torn when it fell though /:
@Jessejohn It’s still in the nursery pot and I need to repot it soon, I have some orchid bark on hand I will mix in- I appreciate the recc!
