I got the tri color so mine is white, red, and pink, but I just chopped it down to almost nothing because it was getting leggy! Grow lights are a MUST for these guys, especially indoors 🀩

@mwmoxie you can keep cutting it back to encourage new growth, and then propagate the cuttings to extend its life. Many folks don't realize these are annuals because they're sold as houseplants. You might be able to squeeze two growing season out of them, but they'll eventually start to decline. Just be prepared for when that happens, and know it's nothing you did/didn't do! The only way to keep it going longer is harvesting the seeds when it flowers πŸ˜‰
@JenniferNoel Interesting I've had mine growing for over 3 years. I believe if they are kept in their ideal environment they can survive 5+ years.

This plant in NOT an annual it is in fact a perennial. That will survive for many years. It is native to Madagascar where it grows up to 3 feet high!

If not given ideal condition they get very stressed and will droop. That droop is showing stress and a very unhappy plant. You need to replicate their native environment. Which is I believe impossible in normal household conditions.

If you keep them in a very humid environment they will happily thrive for a very long time. But that is a terrarium environment. With the lids slightly cracked. Mine are never stressed and never droop.

When they are constantly given stressors that will shorten their lifespan by a lot. A happy plant is a long living plant. Provide a humid environment and they will live many years! πŸŒΏπŸ’•
Just a few of mine the lids are removed for photos.
