☀️ Hello #brunchataudreys 🌿 brunch bunch! It’s Friday morning, I’m sitting on my living room floor in my pj’s inspecting leaves and talking to my plants and thinking about my life choices 🪴 and remembering that last night right before I fell sleep I said “oh just get them,” and impulsively bought a couple wish list plants on Etsy and then was asleep before my head hit the pillow 😴 I’m looking at you @IdPlantThat and @Araceae for plant-fluencing me with pics of your beauties yesterday! 🤣 How is everyone doing today?
The last few days have been wild rainy, windy with interspersed rainbows before back to storms. Last night while we walked to my daughters school for parent teacher conferences (luckily school is very close) I realized my raincoat bit the dust and I was getting cold water dripping down the back of my neck through my busted hood BRRR 🥶 Probably should have impulsively bought a new raincoat before I bought new plants 😂 My daughter however, pushed back her hood, and used her *closed* umbrella as a prop while she sang and danced the whole way to school in her light up rain boots. I might have launched into “singing in the rain,” and embarrassed her 😁

And a special shout out to Joanie @CutePolypremum for recommending my cute new watering can in pic 3️⃣ It’s lovely, well made, pours well, and I’m really glad I have an aesthetically pleasing one I can leave out now. I’m dedicating it to plain water, while my old green plastic one can now be dedicated to fertilizer waterings and I will stop getting confused if there is fertilizer in my water.

He’s sprouting a new 🍃 as he enjoys the morning sunshine and sunlight from my 🪟. He’s also accompanied by my other plants, who love my north facing 🪟! Also a before and after photo of my Golden Sedum aka “Remington” who has grown through the summer, with his golden long leaf! Everyone have a great Friday and weekend on purpose! 😉

@DreamMachine good morning! Wow contestant 1️⃣ is fabulous!!! Is that your pic or from the seller? Either way amazing!! Your begonia and calatheas are fantastic as always 🙌👍😊. I struggle with cane begonias as I’ve previously whined about 😩 and the new cutting, that’s been off to a pretty good start, I just noticed it’s soil is saturated! It was dry 2 days ago, gave it what I thought was proper amount of water and now I’m trying to soak up excess moisture from drainage holes 🕳️ 🕳️ with Charmin’ 🚽 paper 🤪. This begonia is gonna do me in I think! 🤣 😜. Btw your daughter is adorable and is probably a perfect little joy in your life 🙌🥰😊 🎵 ☔️

My booty has 37 plants to water today but honestly I don't see how. It feels like I JUST WATERED THEM!! I've got some missing time. Someone might want to call MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) 👽🛸 Tell them there's an issue. 🤣 I dug through my prop box yesterday and my Hawaiian Splash has "some" Sphag attached to its roots. It’s so easy to over saturate!! Especially with our humidity it seems. I’ve been really trying to water a little bit, THEN check the soil in 10 minutes and see if it needs more, because I have totally been where you were with paper towels, trying to soak up all that excess 😅

@DesertGreen isn’t that first one just…🙀 This purchase was from Wishlist Foliage, but I have also ordered from Sunshine Greens like @Preciousplants1 and The Green Escape. I’ve seen bad reviews for them but I’ve never had anything but good experiences, and they all have free shipping 👍🏼

Hi @Elk ! So they can be a bit of a challenge sometimes, but I went in blindly and got really lucky that I have good conditions for them naturally. I also didn’t follow what is recommended for them re soil, water, and lighting. I went with my instincts and they turned out right!
Just so you know, my homes humidity is pretty high, it averages 60%, usually between 50-70% without a humidifier. So these recommendations of mine could be different for you if you live in a much drier, hotter, or significantly colder place. (My zone is 9a)
Soil is 2/3 drainage. 1/3 coco, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 orchid bark. I fertilize every 2nd - 3rd watering depending on growing season or slow growth season 1/4 -1/2 strength. And I let them get BONE dry in between waterings. My cane begonias get the brightest spots, parts of the plant get direct sun when I have it, but not full sun. My Rex is just under a grow light.

@DreamMachine absolutely add me! 😊 I picked up some pretty fuchsia-colored pentas and a trio of ruellia plants. They’re still very small, but the skippers that we often get here have already taken a liking to them.

After that you needa get an orange variegated Alocasia. The azlanii and the cuprea varieties are amazing but expensive lol. All well, we all are money slaves to our plants. I spent like $28 on this little guy last week and he's smaller than my Thai Con which is cheaper lol

@Idplantthat oooh what's the second begonia in your second post? I've recently been into begonias, added a couple to my wishlist last week [nothobaramensis, malachosticta, kapuashuluensis, lichenora and Sarikei are my current top five], but i've only got a dracopelta rn

@Araceae, that’s all groovy! They are still beautiful, and now I want to find them all! But I’m sure the prices are up there! I think I read somewhere that an Alocasia or something went for like into the tens of thousands on Palm Street or something. It just blows my mind. I can’t imagine having a plant like that. I’d be too afraid something would happen. 🤣
