FOCUS: RECENT NEPENTHES SALE (Australia Only)
Almost forgot! Last Saturday there was a major sale of Nepenthes from a main Australian supplier (Carnivaro - similar name to a US supplier Carnivero!)
So popular is it that it had a countdown to the sale commencing and no wonder when you see the Nepenthes for sale.
Some highlights: a Nepenthes Edwardsiana for AUD $749 (thatβs over US $492 or Β£380 or 454 Euro!!!)
The next most expensive was a bargain at AUD $438 for a Nepenthes Hamata. Iβll add all the photos I took in the comments below π so if you wonder what Nepenthes can look like, this gives you an idea. And so were less than AUD $30 so there a Nepenthes for everyone! And being tropical, as a posted before, dormancy isnβt so much an issue as with many other CPs. Enjoy π
I have seen some great CPs being shared by #cpclubthursday these week so thanks for including the hashtag to alert other members to your posts!
I have also added many posts about the conditions and care of various CPs in previous #cpclubthursday so I recommend people follow the hashtag, may of them also have my own group #seymour so may be easier to find there.
Add any interesting Carnivorous Plant (CP) facts, photos, or anything CP-related for this week.
Or ask a question of our members related to CPs
Join the CP just by clicking the link #cpclubthursday and clicking join. That is all it takes! Too easy! Shall we make it to 210 or more members? There is already a wealth of CP info so why not just join our growing CP community at #cpclubthursday!

@Seymour omg!π€― crazy prices butβ¦ ππ€©π«£ if you are a lover of these fabulous plants.. ππ»π Enjoy your day! Happy Halloween here in USA.
@CourtlyKingfern Thanks Evelyn. Hope you have a nice Halloween (whatever that means for you). Iβve seen prices over $1000 for some CPs but imagine if you bought one and then it died on you π± However those rare (and expensive ones) sold pretty quickly ! Sometimes Iβm just happy to admire them from afar ππ₯°π€©
@Seymour oh whatβs a $1000.00 bucks to you! I am thinking you were the gentleman who won that Austrian lottery. π ππ»π₯³
@CourtlyKingfern You seem well informed, Evelyn ! π π€£π₯³ Imagine the plants that can be bought π€ π itβs was a mere $30 millionβ¦π«£
@Seymour yes!! π€π«
They are pretty though π. I will go $30 to $50 or so, for a really cool and well established plant, but leave all high dollar plants π°π΅ to those with high dollar greenhouses and such. I would be beside myself if I paid that much for a plant and it died. @Seymour Did you buy any new CPs during the sale?
@UltraKoreanfir This is one of the disadvantages about where I live (rather than most states in Australia). Because of the quarantine laws of my state, and the sale was in another state, they do not ship to my state so I was unable to buy any. I find with the additional costs associated with meeting quarantine requirements, I prefer to buy in my own state when I can. Luckily there is a major supplier of Nepenthes here so I usually buy from him and he has managed to secure many of the varieties shown in the sale.
But I see it as a good thing as the Nepenthes I have are really taking over the place so itβs just as well I didnβt buy in the sale. So all I could do was watch the sale and wish our quarantine laws werenβt so strict (for selfish reasons). If I lived in one of the Eastern States, thereβs be no issue with buying at that sale or many of the CP suppliers over there. Somehow I managed to turn your simple question into a novel length answer !

@UltraKoreanfir congratulations on the Ping Rock kit and Drosera from CA CP, I donβt think youβll regret your decision as CA CPs are usually very good quality and 20% is a good discount. Once again, I wish I could buy from many US CP suppliers but I just have to watch from afar ! There are still some good local CP suppliers I have gotten to know, just not many.
@UltraKoreanfir I did manage to buy a Cephalotus from an Eastern State supplier (although the additional quarantine fee was a bit hefty) just now so maybe itβs just as well I was unable to participate in the Nepenthes sale above !
@Seymour Yes...and sometimes we haven't yet enjoyed the full spectacular show of what we already have, so it's good to not get too overwhelmed as well π
@shopofhorrors Lovely Jax, I need to look up a Lady Luck now ! They look really good π and already with lots of pitchers to open up and go crazy ππ Share some more photos for this weeks #cpclubthursday if you like !
So who was the supplier? So I can recommend them if people ask.

@Seymour i wouldn't recommend the supplier. I got them cuz i saw a sale, posted them on Instagram when i got them, a friend said they bought from them and got thier plants infested with mites. So they're are in quarantine atm. I never have any other problems from these nurseries...

@shopofhorrors Hey, thanks for the info Jax. I know some people were a bit unimpressed with Carnivero but certainly Cal CPs and Sarracenia get good reviews from what Iβve seen. Not good to have mites ! Appreciate your comment ππ
@shopofhorrors Wow that Lowland looks so good, that pitcher !π€©
@shopofhorrors Nepenthes seed? Is that a baby pitcher ?
@Seymour
As far as Carnivero, he is pricey and doesn't seem to have a lot of highland species, but i did get couple of pings from him that i like.
a friend from tx sent me one and as sood as i put it in this terrarium, it blossomed!
