Loook at thaaatt variegation! I swear thai cons grow soooo slowly but this new leaf looks amazing! Other photos for a late #FreshLeafFriday, Alocasia 'Frydek' [supposedly bought as a mutation? ๐Ÿค”] and Philodendron BM Fantasy

I would avoid actually touching the leaf as it is unfurling.. Touching a leaf can trigger a stress response in the plant. The new leaves are very fragile and even gentle handling can cause physical damage.
@Araceae ๐Ÿคค ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿคฉ Ooooh!! Canโ€™t wait to see it all unfurled!! Also adore your bm fantasy and alocasia HAPPY SIGH
My regular Monstera and Thai constellation both grew me leaf at the same time the regular Monstera has unfurled with one hole, and the Thai constellation is just sitting there slowly doing her thing.
@MovedByPlants that depends on the plant i noticed, tropical plants are mostly able to withstand quite a beating. Specially with plants that can grow full sun, Monstera, Philo, Epis, Syngos and Alocasia are more than able to tolerate full sun here with some acclimation, and we can get monsoons like crazy. If it were smt like an aquatic then that's different. I wouldn't touch the new leaves of my Anubias, Bucephalandra or Cryptocoryne for example. But i do try to minimise touching in the very early stages of growth, as well as my Scindapsus
@IconBlackberry the Thai Const are seriously slow, have you tried more light? Mine pushed this leaf after i left it in some evening sun after i was too lazy to move it back from watering
@araceae My Thai cons like bright light and self watering pots with pon substrate. They grow like weeds!
@Araceae I use grow lights, happy happy plant food and fox farm ocean forest organic with some extra perlite and orchid bark. I have 3 Walmart Thai rescues and holy cow! Check out my oasis. The biggest one is just from april of this year.
@SvelteDevilsivy oooh hopefully one day i can get good enough conditions for him to put on size! I dont have access to happy happy and fox farm here tho. But ultimately i think renting a shade house would be best, i mean just look at this one at a convention!
Photo didn't post :P
@Araceae holy wow!!!! Gorgeous, tho I wouldnโ€™t have the room lol.
@SvelteDevilsivy they prolly needed a forklift for that anyway XD. I think you could achieve the same results within a couple years.

If i'm not wrong most plants are produced in a greenhouse or shade house where they sit in full sun, the light diffused by just a piece of gardening net or cloth or smt. Maybe you could achieve the same results setting up a small shade house using 70% netting outdoors or in a sunny balcony or smt. Provided the temps permit
