Hiya #greggang and happy Thursday!
I'm not sure how the weather has been in your neck of the woods but those of us in the #mainegang and #northeastgreggang / #newenglandgreggang have been getting SOAKED.
It is great news for our outdoor garden. All the seeds, seedlings and transplants I planted last month are getting watered in and I need to do zero work!
However, my poor indoor #seedlings are begging to be hardened off and it just hasn't been able to happen. This has turned into the perfect recipe for #fungusgnats . I am not sure if they were in the soil, or hitched a ride one of the three days I had the seedlings outside but they have been brutal.
Lucky for me, as many of you know, I'm obsessed with #pinguicula and always tell people to use #carnivorousplants to catch fungus gnats.
I wanted to pop on here and show you all why I sound like such a broken record. I tried to get a photo from every angle because it still blows my mind. I also want to remind everyone that pests happen! ♥️🌱🪰

Pingculeas produce mucilage which attracts bugs. The mucilage coats the sticky hairs on the leaves so when a big lands on it it cannot escape. The leaf then releases digestive enzymes to eat the bugs.
I use soil blocking for my seedlings and when I put them outside to harden them off it seems some fungus gnats found them. So I put the ping near by, the gnats go there instead, and bye bye adults! I attached an updated photo 🫣 I'm hoping it's the last round of eggs because I haven't seen anything in the soil.
