My beautiful Thanksgiving Cacti in bloom πŸ’• These guys sure do mean a lot to me. One day I’ll find a true Christmas cactus & hopefully an Easter cactus too!

Ignore the pot in pot with the terracotta πŸ™ˆ I just bought that one but the pot it came in was so ugly.

It’s gorgeous 😍
@LaSiguanaba thank you! I love seeing them when I walk into the room! πŸ₯°
@ThatFlowerGirl it really is a stunning cactus. I have a tiny baby one that hasn’t yet opened its blooms.
@LaSiguanaba they’re such an easy plant and they last forever! I hope yours opens the blooms soon!!
Gorgeous!! I have one with buds starting to open and another one full of buds. I have one Easter cactus. It’s had a lot of new growth but no success in blooming again after I bought it a couple of years ago.
@RefinedSandwort thank you! Will you post them when the buds open? I’d love to see!
Have you tried covering the Easter cactus at night so it has 12 hours of darkness? I’ve read that helps. But as I’ve not been lucky enough to get my hands on one, I’m no expert πŸ˜‚
@ThatFlowerGirl Check grocery stores and big box stores for an Easter cactus. I managed to find mine there.
@Charli3Plant I usually just see these marketed as Easter cacti. But I’ll definitely be on the hunt next year. I’m glad you were able to find one!
They'll also be under the name Zygocactus. Your blooms are absolutely gorgeous πŸ’šπŸ©·
@ThatFlowerGirl I saw some red Christmas cacti at the local garden shop yesterday when I went to get my poinsettia. What do you mean by β€œtrue” Christmas cactus?
@ValleyOfErlease Mine are Thanksgiving Cacti (or false Christmas cacti as Greg likes to call them). I bought them as β€œChristmas” cacti though. Actual Christmas cacti are a different species.
I love the white one! 😍 I have a hot pink baby Thanksgiving cactus, who bloomed briefly then promptly dropped all her buds in protest to her new home πŸ˜‚ I'm sure she'll get over it lol x
@ThatFlowerGirl The one I got yesterday was marked as a Christmas cactus. I have a feeling that they just grab whatever care tag they have handy and shove them in there. πŸ˜‚
@princesspitstop all mine were too! I’ve been to about 10 greenhouses in the past week or so and every single one calls the thanksgiving cactus a Christmas cactus. Oh well, they’re still absolutely gorgeous! I’ve been tempted by a yellow one I saw tho πŸ™ˆ I don’t think I need any more thanksgiving cacti but maybe I’ll make an exception lol
@ThatFlowerGirl Exactly! After seeing your white one I'm now considering getting one as well!
@princesspitstop you should!! I think white is so underrated! I do need to deadhead tho. My pink one is my pride and joy but I’m so glad I also have the white one 😍
@ThatFlowerGirl So to deadhead just pinch the spent blooms off? Any particular place on the stem? The only plants I own that I have to do that to are Kalanchoe's. 😁
@princesspitstop yep! Right where the little green bit of the bloom meets the leaf. You can pinch with your thumb nail but be careful if there are any buds right next to the wilted flower.

Here’s a pic since I’m a visual person πŸ˜‚ I drew a thin red line where I remove the flower
@ThatFlowerGirl Here’s mine today!
@ThatFlowerGirl Thanks!! I appreciate that! I'm visual as well ❀️ The white one looks so pretty against the terracotta pot! When they open tomorrow I'm gonna go get one πŸ€—
@RefinedSandwort beautiful!! We have similar taste I see πŸ₯°
@princesspitstop any time! And I hope you get your hands on one! I went back for the yellow one and it wasn’t there. I guess it’s not meant to be and I’ll find a yellow Easter cactus πŸ˜‚
I love the holiday cactus plants! I have several pink Thanksgiving cactus that love living on my breezeway. I ordered a white Christmas cactus from a nursery and it, again, was a Thanksgiving…at least it was white!
@JenniB81 sometimes buds drop if there is a chilly breeze or draft.
Yeah I think that's the case with mine tbh @peachystonecrop I got her during the coldest week of the year so far (every day hit the minuses!), she opened to blooms then went "nah! Too damned cold for me!" And chucked the rest of them πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£ never mind... There's always next year! Lol xx
@ThatFlowerGirl I finally got a white one!! This was as close to a terracotta pot as I could get right now. πŸ’š
