Terrarium setup and LED grow light for schismatoglottis?

I just finished the setting the hardscape back up in Ember’s #Terrarium (crested gecko). Now for the *really* fun part—choosing the plants! 🤩

I was contemplating planting a #schismatoglottisthailand this time, but wasn’t sure if an LED grow light would be enough for it. Does anyone know?

I only just found this post. What plants did you put in in the end? I guess it's too late to matter but I would have thought a schismatoglottis would be happy with the grow light. I've got a schismatoglottis wallichii and for a few months it was in medium light and seemed fine. I have just put it under a growlight and its colours are just so beautiful!! I hope Ember likes the new setup 😊. Please tag me if you post any updates. 🌿💕
@LuxuryMint That’s great to know! I may go ahead and try it, then!

So far, all I have in it are a couple of plumosa (I don’t think they’re going to be happy, though—the soil doesn’t stay wet enough), a small creeping fig, and a dracaena. I’ll certainly update again once I have it filled in!
What relative humidity do you keep Ember's terrarium at? I'm about to make my first terrarium, and apparently you can glue epiphytic plants to the hardscape. Some of them don't like moist soil but do like humidity. Have you ever tried gluing plants? 💕🌿
@LuxuryMint I haven’t glued any plants before, but that’s mostly because I’m concerned about making sure they get proper water. I’ve heard from a lot of experienced fish and reptile keepers that cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) is safe to use on plants, and is safe for pets when it’s dry.

Ember’s tank has a screen top and a screen panel above the door, so I doubt her humidity is much higher than ambient. I do have a plant only terrarium that is closed, so that one is probably around 80% if I had to guess. I have mostly Selaginella in that one, and possibly some moss, but the Selaginella is so thick right now it’s hard to see anything else 😂

Are you planning on growing/housing anything specific?
I'm going to mainly grow moss and ferns I think. Can you post a pic of the Selaginella terrarium? I'd love to see it ☺️. I see what you mean about the mesh, it would be pretty much ambient humidity. Maybe some kind of philodendron might be ok? 💕🌿
Sure thing! Sorry it’s so overgrown 😅. I really need to tidy it up some more and give it a good trim. The moss is just starting to come back after acclimating, so I’m hoping it will get some nice carpeting eventually. Definitely a work in progress!
That's really beautiful! What type of Selaginella is it? 🌿💕
@LuxuryMint It’s Selaginella kraussiana. I’ll be giving it a haircut sometime this week—I’d be happy to send you some cuttings if you’d like!
That is so kind of you!! 😘 But I'm in the UK, so I don't know if that's possible...🌿💕
@LuxuryMint Ah, I didn’t realize you were in the UK! Unfortunately, the shipping won’t work, then, but I hope you’ll share photos when you get your terrarium going! 😍
Yes sadly shipping would not be safe, could take ages. And all kinds of rules about what can come into the country if it's living. I really appreciate your kindness though 💞.
I will definitely do photos once I've made my terrarium! 🌿💕
