I scored this vintage mid century planter for $13 at a flea market! What should I put in it? I need the perfect thing. Iโ€™m a succulent gal, so a cactus or succ is what I want. Iโ€™m thinking something tall since the pot is small. Ideas? #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #SuccerForSucculents #CactusClique #Cactus
E.Black Prince would look stellar!
Green pearl?
@karmynsprops oooo that is a good one!
@Yeeha234 like, string of pearls, or something else?
@Jana85 mine is a pup on the left. Iโ€™ll have to locate the mamma. Sheโ€™s in this chaos somewhereโ€ฆ
@Yeeha234 they are a deeper green with mottled red centers.
Here she is. She was beheaded and now her qq
@Yeeha234 that is a nice one! I hadnโ€™t heard of that one.
Humm I love the Pencil Cactus Euphorbia tirucalli or any kind of euphoria they are so pretty an get tall
@Jana85 I would say something with color...
Or you could just ship it to me which would be the best possible choice I feel...๐Ÿ’ซโœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐ŸŒฟโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Ooooo get you a tiger claw!!! They grow up incredibly tall based on pot size
I love your new pot! Itโ€™s really cute!
I have one thats similar to that color and a SOT looks beautiful with it!
Wow good find
It's time to order your ball cactus Jana
Desert rose!!!
Something like an Astroloba could be nice if you can find one. If not, a Haworthiopsis glauca could serve well.
Some type of jade would be prettyโ˜บ๏ธ
A dragon bones cactus ๐ŸŒต
@BuoyantSandleek I donโ€™t have any euphorbias yet! And @FirstCanna I do like color!
@PapaHempseed ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
@WisePลhutukawa Iโ€™m not sure what a tiger claw is, but I feel like something tall would look good!
@RJG hahaha ooooh boyโ€ฆ thatโ€™s so temptingโ€ฆ
@Jana85 look at mine !!
@JdeBDMo thatโ€™s a lovely idea! Thatโ€™s been on my โ€œwantโ€ list!
@SubAlp Iโ€™ll have to google astroloba. I have a different tall haworthia like this and it definitely gives some heightโ€ฆ
@user2d95be45 maybe a VARIEGATED jade? ๐Ÿค”
@Jana85 do it!!!!
@A.J. Thatโ€™s beautiful! Would it outgrow my tiny pot?
@JdeBDMo this may be my excuse to cross that off my list. Everyone is adding to my โ€œwantโ€ list in this post. ๐Ÿ˜…
@Jana85 not if you keep it rootbound!
@JdeBDMo nice. This is going to be a hard decision. ๐Ÿ˜…
You tube dot basecamp vids. He rocks adenium. Iโ€™ve learned tremendously
@Jana85 ๐Ÿ˜ณ
@JdeBDMo cool, thanks!!
oh wow that planter is so lovely! maybe a mini cactus?
@Jana85 hereโ€™s mine. Theyโ€™ll grow very tall Iโ€™ve been told.
Green pearl
A euphorbia obesa would be pretty cool in that
@RJG it definitely has your cacti identified incorrectly. ๐Ÿ˜‚ but thatโ€™s and awesome one. I love that type. Itโ€™s going to start growing like crazy it appears. Youโ€™ll have multiple heads soon probably. That one looks so awesome too. Actually if @jana85 can find a loph for sale that would also be a cool one to put in the vintage planter. Or the one you have. Both would be really cool
@PapaHempseed youโ€™ll end up putting that devils lettuce in it if itโ€™s sent to you. ๐Ÿ˜‚ . I like that planter also. I might go to antique stores to look for old ones like that now.
@SunnyLancefern thatโ€™s the second vote for that!
@RJG look at that beauty with the new section coming in!
@SirLiquorice I donโ€™t have any euphorbias yet so Iโ€™ll look into that. I LOVE how adorable lophophora are but idk if I can find one to buy. I have to pretty much order everything online because nobody in eastern Kentucky sells desert plants. I was lucky to find this planter because nearly all the vintage ones I find donโ€™t have holes in them! They usually sell for $10-$15 though, which is cheap!
@Jana85 he is a good reliable source for many awesome cacti and ships fast
@Jana85 that would be super cool to have one of those in that pot. But a obesa would also be pretty awesome. But the LW would be super cool since itโ€™s extra rare and exotic
@Jana85 just message him on instagram and he will send pics and prices depending on how old and large you want to buy.
@SirLiquorice thank you so much! Do you also have a recommendation for a cactus that blooms pretty reliably? I love the flowers but I think the few cacti I own arenโ€™t prolific bloomers.
@Jana85 this one I have and the lophs bloom pretty often actually but flowers donโ€™t last as long and doesnโ€™t get as many
I think that rebutia flowers more than almost anything else I have. Except for one mammillaria and I have a gymno that blooms a lot. This gymno blooms a good amount but still not as much
@Jana85 but an LW would bloom pretty often if getting enough sunlight and heat outside. The flowers only last two days but it will get them pretty often. They just prefer being outside in the heat.
That rebutia is also cold tolerant Iโ€™ve noticed some mine survived 15 degrees for a long time while others died and froze half to death. It had no issues with the cold. And the flowers last a few days and more just keep growing and blooming. So definitely one of the very best for flowers. Actually almost any rebutia would be a good choice for lots of flowers.
Planet desert is also doing a 15% off sale for Memorial Day
@SirLiquorice thatโ€™s super helpful! Thank you so much!!
@Jana85 honestly, I have never heard of many of them. I believe the sellers make up their own names to trick us collectors!!
@Jana85 I got some cold hardy cacti that bloom pretty often... and you really wouldn't have to worry about them in Kentucky winter...
@SubAlp is this the same thing as a climbing Aloe?
@fairficus slightly different. They look more stiff/straight/symmetrical, but I like those too :)
