Hoss's new pot and mix!

✨I've been putting it off for a long ass time cuz I was so scared to mess it up/kill him but my big boi "HAASta-la-vista" (I've just been calling him Hoss lately) got his first pot and haircut today... (Click either of the tags at the beginning if you want to see his journey thus far.) Since he's been growing with #pothos for the last couple months I decided to pot them all together...
✨I trimmed all but three of the leaves off the top portion, dusted all the cut areas with cinnamon and tomorrow I'm going to put his top in a small pot and see if it'll grow roots. 🙃
✨The soil I used is (eyeball measurements) roughly equal parts regular MiracleGro and Cactus Citrus Palm MiracleGro (I used the pot to measure half and half ish) with roughly two 4" pots worth of perlite and a wee bit of pumice. (Figured I might as well use the maybe ½ cup I had left.) The perlite and pumice were sifted with a wire mesh strainer to get all the dust/tiny pieces out. I also added a wee bit of cinnamon to the mix to hopefully discourage any fungal growth (maybe like 2 or 3 Tbsp). I also lightly dampened the soil before potting and used my hands to mix it up really well and break up any big clumps.
✨I put this all in a 7.5" pot with drainage, a handful or two at a time, using a chopstick to gently maneuver the roots/make sure there were no big air holes. (Tapping on the bottom and sides occasionally.)
✨This concludes part one of my experiment. I think that's all the pertinent info for this one... Not sure where I'll get #avocadowater for my basil now, but that's a problem for another day... Lol Feel free to ask questions if I missed anything. 🙃✌️🖤

@kscape experiment 1 has come to a close and I would say it was a huge success! I would also say, given the growth rate of the others, that #mycorrhizalfungi + #pothoswater is the winning combo. (: Thanks for the inspo and please keep your fingers crossed for my dude here since it's pretty late in the grow season at this point. Lol 😅🙃🖤

@kscape I probably won't be doing many more experiments (aside from keeping up with avocados 2-5) until spring, but we'll see. I can't seem to stop. Lmao This has been so much fun! I'm thinking I may have to start giving all my foliage plants mycorrhizae/pothos water seeing the wonders it did for this guy! 😆🖤
(If you ever decide to experiment with myc, fair warning it does not play well with succulents. Lol I tried it on a Jade and instead of forming a symbiotic relationship, it started feeding on and killing the Jade. 😬)

In simple terms, #PothosWater is the water that holds your Pothos cuttings when water propagating. When propagating Pothos cuttings, they release a natural rooting hormone in water to help them root! You can use this water to help other slow-rooting plants!
