Good morning #TheWateringHole planty crew (I’ve still got 15 min of morning 😁) #brunchataudreys It is Friday 🥶 and this will be just a quick one to get things started because oh la la! I have 24 + 10 more garage plants that need attending. It was hard to get out of bed this morning, it’s in the 30’s today and I had warm snuggling kitties 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛ on me in addition to my heated blanket, but then I remembered that I had left the kitchen window open a crack AND I had left some plants nearby. So I 🪟 🏃🏼♀️ 💨
Then I remembered that my unheated garage is where I have my quarantine zone 🤦🏼♀️ 🥶 One begonia and one Hoya are showing a bit of distress, but I took all the plants out of the garage at least.
How are you all doing today? I’m sending a special shout out to @princesspitstop Hope your move goes smoothly!! Can’t wait to hear all about it! 🌈 🪴 🫶🏼

Beautiful variegation on the Calatheas!! 🥰 Glad you remembered your plant babies, and there you were ti the rescue! ⛑️ A cloudy 🌥️ 50• degrees here in NM, also a photo of my Alocasia Regal Shield 🛡️ aka “Willow”! She has lost 🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃 and regain them back, by me replanting her croms and using the ziplock method. She has grown tremendously, 👀 at those roots. This is the end result of my “Willow”! 🙌 Isn’t she a beauty!! 🥰 Everyone have a great Friday and weekend on purpose! 😉
@BabeVila Thank you SO much ☺️ I don’t know what it means, and there’s probably some lesson to be learned, in that the hard ones are easy and the easy ones are hard for me but 🤷🏼♀️ I’ll take it 😂 (I don’t actually subscribe to the view that there are ‘hard’ and ‘easy’ plants though, haha, it’s all relative)
@SweetAzurebluet Thank you so much dear Harriet 💕 And would you look at your Willow!! Standing proudly again! 💪🏼What do you do in the ziplock method? Is the bag used like a humidity dome over a pot? Or do you put the corms in and seal the bag? I’m an alocasia novice, and soaking up all the information I can 😁 🫶🏼 🌿
@DreamMachine Yes, I removed the corms from the previous planter, plant them with soil into another pot, add a lil water, then place a ziplock bag top open just a little that act as a humidity dome. I also add WTW fertilizer also. I place it by a south facing window. She grows leaves beautifully, after a while, I had to figure out how to acclimate her without the high humidity. She lost 2 leaves, but look at how she has bounced back!

@BabeVila I agree with Nadia @DreamMachine we have very similar taste in plants, my calatheas get almost no humidity my apartment sits at around mid 20's to 30 humidity rarely get dry leaves they just keep getting bigger.
@SilkyRoses oh yay hi Christina! Agreed! Lots of the things that people think are humidity issues often turn out to be something else entirely. Plants are pretty great at adapting to so many different environments. And yours, by the way way, look BEAUTIFUL 🤩 Wowwww!!

@Idplantthat whoopsies i somehow missed your comment, my apologies! I can see why you’d think “nerve plant,” is has similar colorings right? But it’s a zebra plant aphellandra squarrosa (I might have butchered that spelling) 😁 I had originally brought home one from work to rehab (it had been potted with no drainage, dear, dear 😬) but unfortunately that one didn’t make it 😭 and I didn’t catch the rot early enough before it made it up the stem. But I loved it so much I kept my eyes open and found this one at a nearby nursery this past summer 🙌🏼
