My little Plato has orange looking fungus/mushrooms growi...
Last watered 1 month ago
@TryOleaster86 was def thinking that π should I let them grow on or tried to remove? New soil?
@UberViszsla @TryOleaster86 Itβs not overwatering. Youβve got fungus in your soil. It is most likely the little houseplant mushroom fungus (Leucocoprinus birnbaumii), or perhaps a slime mold like Fuligo septica. Neither are harmful to your plants, and nothing you did caused it to happen. It just means the spores were in the soil, it is quite common. They are a beneficial part of our ecosystem, recycling decaying matter, and they can also mean that you have healthy, nutrient-rich soil.
However, the mushroom fungus is toxic to ingest to humans and pets so make sure no animals or little humans get it in their mouths, nor any little mushrooms that may fruit. Fungus likes damp soil to grow, so if itβs not harmful to the plant you can let it dry out almost all the way in between waterings to discourage fungal growth, but it is hard to get rid of. if it really bothers you, you can repot into fresh new soil.
