Hello planty peeps. Last week I bought this #swisscheesevine Monstera. I would like to grow it up a mossy pole and put it into a bigger pot as it looks quite cramped and already grown since I bought it. It also has a new leave curl which is exciting! Can anyone recommend a size pot to put it in (to sit on the floor) so I can put a pole in and train it upwards? It’s currently in a 12cm pot with drainage but it’s ready to be potted on. Obviously I need to be able to fit the pole in too. Thanks! πŸͺ΄ #Monstera #SwissCheeseVine

I think a 15 or 16 cm (I don't know the specific pot sizes in cm) would be perfect for the next pot size up. You don't want to go too big because you want to be able to control the moisture in the pot.

Most moss poles or coco coir poles (my fav) will still be able to fit in the middle. Currently, my plant is in a 6 inch pot with a pole. (:
@sarahsalith Thank you! On further inspection mine is actually a coir pole and not mossy. I had a rummage in the garage and found a pot I think might be suitable and hopefully not too big. It has good drainage holes. I watched some YouTube videos and got an idea of how to replant it etc. The plant was quite root bound with roots growing out of the bottom of the smaller pot so hopefully it will grow and fill the pot quite quickly and I’ll be careful not to over water. Trial and error!
It looks amazing!!
A good rule of thumb for up-potting is to aim for a pot that is 5-8cm bigger than the current one!
