Well whoops😅
I had a plan to eventually cut Fernando in 2 as his stem is so long. He has been growing slower lately so I finally got myself to it.
Buuut ended up with 3 separate plants, and 2 rootballs with no leaves😅
These propagations never goes as planned🙈 Anyone else always ending up with more plants than anticipated?🪴🪴

@MockingJay I haven’t tried propagating these beauties in fact Bella has taken such a turn for the worse due to our weather, a re-pot in soil also she didn’t like and that just wouldn’t dry out because of our weather as well, I was so sad about it I had to give her a huge haircut and she really hasn’t improved yet worsened either and I bought 4 new ones 2 Stella and 2 just white fusions that im currently trying to nurse since they were received with some blight and one is thriving the others I’m still nursing carefully and just really-potted one into a terra cotta clay pot, then one will go into a self-watering eventually to see how each one does in the different pots since my environment holds a lot of high humidity in the summer and dry in winter. My fingers have been 🤞🏻. I found your post interesting, though. Let us see how they progress.
Separating plants, especially a calathea, is one of my favorite little 'side quests' to do but also at the same time I always know it'll never be the amount I plan on... It's always so much more and there are just pieces every where 😂 I do enjoy separate all my plants, probably more often than I should, but I've had to slow down bc I had no pots or anything to make into pots ATM.

Fernando here is a special case, as I got him by mail last early winter. It was really to cold to send, but I wanted him bad🙈 Asked the sender to cut all the leaves before sending as they wouldn't make it anyway. He was in a rough state when I got him, with some frost-damage. But it seems he couldn't care less and just started growing new roots and leaves right away😂 Don't know if any of my other calatheas would have managed that👀

@KrunchyWrapz I feel you😄 One of Fernando's offcuts got planted in a tomato-cup😂 They are genious! (We have small ready-to-eat plum-tomatoes that are sold in transparent small plastic-buckets). They even have holes at the bottom! Perfect for planting😂🪴 And I can keep an eye on the roots👀

@MockingJay that's hilarious bc last year I had a random little white fusion pop up, and thriving in my veggie garden! 😂 No clue how the sneaky bugger got in there, but she was thriving and then some

@BrawnyRedrose I am having the best time in the prosess, and later I don't know where I may put all the plants😅 or why I need so many of the same type 👀 Having a really hard time throwing away anything that might become a plant (cough, Coleus👀), and it is causing some problems😆
@MockingJay oh they can! You just have to nonchalantly lose a rhizome in some soil mix that you later use for veggies 😂😂😂
Oh yeah! I don't dare separate any of mine 🤣 ill just end up with 10 more plants... I said as I'm thinking about separating a couple of my plants because they are getting so big 😅🪴
My small zebrina is needing water every 2 days now.. so I think it's about time, but I also know that it means that I'm gonna have to split her into 4 or 5 plants instead of 1 😬😅
And where am I gonna keep 4-5 ekstra plants.. and I can't bear selling her off.
She is my little baby I have been caring for since she was just roots 🤣🌿

@mockingjay I know right! Tbh she's been very good for me for the most part... But I recently repotted her and she's gone crazy shooting new leaves so I know don't want to disturb her! I have a gorgeous E. Aurem that really need a haircut, but she's also giving me so much joy at the moment I don't wanna slow her roll!! 🤦♀️🤣🤣 Better get my big girl pants on I think!! Lmfao 😂😂 xxx

They can regrow as long as you have part of the stem (or rhizomes, as they actually are) attached to the roots (like I have on the last photo in my post).
My tiny yellow fusion, Elle, is regrown from just a tiny rhizome with 3 small roots😊 (she fell off Fernando when I got him last fall).
She is not big and takes her time, but do have a bunch of tiny leaves atm😁🌱
I don't have a pic before I planted her unfortunatly, but here she is after about 1 1/2 month with her first 2 leaf-nodes emerging. And how she is today😊🌱
