#FiddleLeafFig Appreciation post! Terra is making me a very happy plant mom this morning! Terra is the FLF I chopped in halfโ€ฆliterally. I am so excited she didnโ€™t die on me! One of my doggos decided to be in part of the photo opp. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Terra is looking great, loving the baby leaves! What would a photo be without a doggos!!๐Ÿฅฐ
@SweetAzurebluet | Thank you Harriet! ๐Ÿ’œ Arenโ€™t the leaves just so cute? โ˜บ๏ธ This is what she used to look like. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ But she was so top heavyโ€ฆshe needed a change - so experimenting time began! Yes, my doggo loves to make his appearance in as many photos and videos as he can!
That's amazing!! I've been tempted to do this to one of mine just to see what happens and you're making me want to try really bad
@SavvyOleander | Jaime - I totally understand the hesitation. I put it off for a good while. Then one day I just went for it! ๐Ÿ˜† I also made little notches in the trunk of the tree to encourage growth-I think that really helped!
@theloveofplants Good for you, having the courage to behead your fiddle fig ๐Ÿ˜œ I'm trying to work up the courage to cut mine back as well, really want her to start branching out.
@stephonicle | ๐Ÿ˜‚ yes, I finally got the courage to behead her! She was sooo top heavy before and I want her to branch out, like you mentioned. So I am excited to see what happens!!
@theloveofplants Wow, she is/was so tall!!
@SweetAzurebluet - Yes, she was very tall and I loved it! But she was just so wobbly. It was time to give her a chop and hopefully make her stronger in the long run.
@theloveofplants how does one go about doing this? My FLF is looking kinda leggy and sad. And how do you do notching?
@RefreshingPuka |

Hi Kelly! I know the feeling. Mine was getting nice and leggy. I could just tell it was time for a change! When I chopped the tree I found a space, right above, where an old leaf used to sit. I pretty much cut the tree in half.

Ohh that is a great question about notching! I have been wanting to do an update YouTube video on Terra. I will demonstrate how I notch my tree in the video and send your way. There are a lot of different ways to do notching, but I will show you what worked for me! ๐Ÿค— How does that sound?
@theloveofplants thank you so much, thatโ€™s so kind! What do you do with the head once you chop it off? I feel like Iโ€™m gonna end up on a no-fly-list asking that โ˜บ๏ธ
@RefreshingPuka

Of course! Happy to help! You can propagate the top of the tree in water. It should root in water. Mine did not, but that doesnโ€™t mean yours wonโ€™t.
@RefreshingPuka

P. S. I do promise to make you the video - it will just be later this afternoon. I should have said that earlier ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
@RefreshingPuka -

Here is the video about notching my FLF tree! ๐Ÿค—
