Spring is on its way!! The days have been warming up here in FL. My Sarracenia, venus fly traps, and temperate drosera & pinguicula have begun coming out of dormancy! It's so nice seeing them growing again - I always miss them over winter.
My Nepenthes have also been going crazy with pitchers. I've been struggling to find that perfect environment, soil, and watering schedule for them, but I think I've finally got it!
I can't wait for all of my temperate plants to be out of dormancy fully. @SmartWhitefir Thank you!! I keep my VFTs (and majority of my temperate carnivores) in a 2:1 mix of peat moss & perlite. You can also do a 1:1 mix, I just do the 2:1 mix so I don't have to water as frequently :) Works out well for me since my plants are sat in bright, direct sun all day 😅 Furthermore, if you wanted to you could also do a 2:1 or 1:1 mix of long fibered sphanum moss and perlite. When buying the stuff, make sure that there's absolutely no fertilizers included what so ever. This means that any Miracle-Gro products are off the table immediately, as there's pretty much always fertilizers in them.
