Happy Wednesday y'all! It's been a week 😭

The #succulents survived the cold snap, but the Sempervivums thrived. It's so cool getting to see them shift into their winter colors. We love a good cold hardy succulent that can live outside year round. (Please forgive their slightly wilted appearance, I wanted to make sure they were thoroughly dry before the freeze arrived.)

Do you keep your potted semps outside in the winter? Mine were in the ground last winter but this year I moved them to pots. Can I keep them out until spring?
Beautiful colors!
Those colors are gorgeous!!
@Artonina yep! I specifically got these guys so they could stay outside all year and not take up space indoors.
@Charli3Plant perfect! Same reason for me:) will share pics of my semps tomorrow
My potted semps
@Artonina beautiful!! 😍😍 What varieties do you have?
@Charli3Plant they look beautiful 🀩
I haven't deared to keep mine outside in winter after the first ones i tried with rotted under the snowπŸ˜….. and I am afraid they won't tolerate the cold without the snow isolating πŸ™ˆ
How cold does it get where you are? Has there been no problem at all?❄️
@MockingJay I live in the South, so it doesn't get too terribly cold (last winter sucked lol). I've had these guys since February or so, and they've loved the colder weather. If anything, the summer almost did them in with the constant rain, high temperatures - especially over night, this year was god awful- and tropical humidity levels. I would say to try again with them. Did you have yours in pots or in the ground?
@Charli3Plant ah right. I had mine in the ground back then, but have moved the survivors to pots to have more control over how much water they getπŸ˜… We get as cold as -20 celsius (-4 fahrenheit) in winter. They are doing just fine indoor though (just a little more work for me), they are sleeping in the bedroomπŸ˜† They'll wake again when spring comes and I move them out again πŸ˜‚
@MockingJay They can go down to -20 F (-29-ish C). They do like to be dry when it's really cold; you could probably get away with keeping them outside under an awning or something like that to keep most of the snow off them.
@Charli3Plant a bunch of chick charms, but I lost many last summer and I stopped tracking them
